The Winnebago Council will again have a large contingent to the
2013 National Jamboree to be held at the brand-new Summit Bechtel
Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia. Dates of the
Jamboree are July 15-24, 2013. Scouts will need to be at least 12
years old by July 15, 2013 and not reaching their 18th birthday by
July 24, 2013. For the first time ever, the Venturing program will
be involved in the National Jamboree. Venturers must have graduated
8th grade or be at least 14 years old by July 15, 2013, but have not
reached their 21st birthday by July 24, 2013. Any registered male or
female Venturer may participate.

“The Summit” is the Boy Scouts of America’s brand-new fourth
high-adventure base joining Philmont, Northern Tier, and the Florida
Sea Base in the Scouting family. The 10,000 acre property is next to
the New River Gorge National River area in West Virginia. Whitewater
Rafting, Kayaking, Rock Climbing, Bouldering, Mountain Biking,
Skateboarding, BMX, Shooting Sports, and a special Zip-line
challenge course are included in addition to the merit badge midway
where you can work on all of the merit badges offered by the Boy
Scouts of America. Each participant will have a personal,
programmable hand-held device which will contain all program data,
entertainment information, and contain all jamboree communications.
Early registration is being accepted now by the Winnebago
Council Service Center. Fill out the form below or call
319-234-2867. Costs are being established and all interested parties
