
Lakeland District Pinewood Derby, Saturday, April 5th, in Mason City. Joe Johnson and Julie Pitman are doing a terrific job of putting this event together. For all you racing enthusiasts, you’ll have an opportunity to race at the Council Pinewood Derby in Charles City on March 29th and then come to Mason City for the District race!! We’ll be offering training on Saturday April 12th at the Boy Scout Building in Garner. New Leader Essentials (for all leaders, Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Venturers) will be 9:00 – 11:30. Cub Scout Leader Specifics will be 1:00 – 4:00. Participants will be on their own for lunch. Please call the MC Scout Office (641)424-2962 to register.

OA members, mark your calendars for the Spring Fellowship. April 18 -20th!
Our Scoutmasters are busy putting together some great ideas for the Spring Camporee, April 25 – 27th at WSR. Encourage your scouts to attend and plan to have a terrific weekend, not only a blast for the boys, but for the adults as well!! There will be an Arrow of Light Ceremony for 2nd year Webelos Scouts crossing over into Boy Scouts on Friday night. This is a very special ceremony. All parents should plan to attend as well.
All leaders should plan to attend the Lakeland District Dinner on Tuesday night, April 29th at the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake. Enjoy a wonderful meal, prepared by Lakeland’s best chefs, and an evening of entertainment, as well as an opportunity to congratulate our new District Award of Merit honorees. Don’t forget to nominate your best leaders for this honor!!!
The council’s "Spring Fling" for Cub Scouts will be May 3rd and 4th. This year’s theme is "Take wing at the Spring Fling!" Colleen has some GREAT ideas so expect to have TONS of fun! Plan to spend the night, or just come for the day! Registration forms are available on the web site.
It’s fundraising time and we’re offering a great opportunity to make a little extra camp money for your scouts, as well as helping to support your council by selling candles, cookie mix, nuts, and more!!
We’re also working hard to get out visiting every troop and pack in Lakeland District in the next couple of months. If you haven’t given us a date to come and do a camp promotion and a Friends of Scouting presentation, call the office or email me so we can get that lined up. Boy Scout leaders, you should also be scheduling those OA elections with the election team also!
It’s also time to start thinking about rechartering. If you haven’t picked up your packets, please do so soon or call to make an arrangement for me to get it to you!!!!! Plan to attend Roundtable in March if you have questions. We’ll also schedule a "Rechartering Party" where we can meet and work on them together. These MUST be completed and back to the office by April 1st!! The "party" will be Thursday evening, March 20th, at 6:30 – 8:30. We’ll be meeting at CL Tel in Clear Lake, 107 – N. 4th Street. I’ll bring the snacks!!!
