Dear Cubmasters and Scoutmasters,
Please take time to read the following information and pass it along to your Scouts!
As we come close to the end of 2008, the Lakeland District is continuing to strive to provide our wonderful programs to more youth. We would like to encourage your Packs and Troops to take a moment and think about youth recruitment.
You may be thinking to yourself WHY RECRUIT NOW? Recruiting now has a few advantages:
1) Right now the cost to join Cub Scouts through April 2009 is a $4.25 application fee plus a $1.00 Insurance Fee; a grand total of only $5.25.
2) If a boy joins now, he and his family are able to align their Winter/Spring schedule around Scouting instead of trying to fit it in after everything has already started.
3) This will help your Pack or Troop achieve the Centennial Quality Unit Award (Reminder: that the Centennial Quality Unit Award Form is due before December 31st) and will help the Lakeland District achieve the Centennial Quality District Award.
4) Recruiting new Scouts for your Pack or Troop will help your unit continue to grow. The more new youth that each unit recruits, the more potential parent involvement and support you will have.
5) Any new, unregistered, non-transferred youth that is recruited no later than the December 11th Roundtable has a chance to have their membership fees paid for by a District Scouter as a holiday gift. All applications must be submitted directly to Lakeland District Manager, Mark Curran, to be eligible for their fees to be paid.
If you have any questions, please contact the Lakeland District Manager, Mark Curran.
