The Winnebago Council's Ingawanis Adventure Base is home to the Wapsie Wrangler Horse Program, one of the few year round Wrangler programs at a Boy Scout camp in the nation.

The Wapsie Wranglers were established in 1962 to support the Wapsipinicon Council Horse program. The wranglers currently maintain a herd of 14 horses and over 8 miles of wilderness horse trails at our Ingawanis Adventure Base near Waverly, Iowa. Our primary objective is to promote horsemanship for youth and community for many generations to come. We do this by providing Trail rides, Steak dinner  rides, and our Annual Horse Show now in it’s 50th year.

Our Camp, Trails and Horses are owned by the Winnebago Council, Boy Scouts of America, and are available to youth and adults outside of scouting as well.  Church groups, college groups, birthday parties, or a group of people out for a day of fun - EVERYONE is welcome to come enjoy our horses and beautiful Ingawanis Adventure Base. Many other facilities and opportunities are available for your fun and enjoyment.

Our show arena is available. Cub Scouts or youth under the age of 11 years are
restricted to an arena ride. Youth are to be with an adult to lead or sidewalk with the
horse and its rider. Our Wranglers supervise the arena walkers. Birthday “ride
parties” provide a memorable party. Horse games and activities can be
coordinated for a fun learning experience.

  Trail Rides

Ingawanis Adventure Base boast of the most intensive use of trails and conservation. We support and maintain over 8 miles of trails through the hills and valleys of Bremer county and along the scenic Cedar River. Along our trails you can see such natural beauty as springs, meadows, wildlife, bluffs and great autumn leaves. Sometime wild Eagles can be seen flying along the river. With our herd of gentle trail broke horses we can give trail rides to groups of up to 12 riders (back to back rides are available for larger groups) each trail ride is approximately 1 hour in length. Because we can’t possibly cover all our trails in one ride, come back again and bring your friends.

Steak Dinner Rides

Want that good Old West Adventure? Then come join us for a 1 1/2 hour trail ride and a meal any cowpoke would be proud of. Your ride starts off at our corral and after 1 1/2 hours exploring and enjoying the sites and experiences along the trails, you will be treated to a cook your own steak meal with all the trimmings. Then sit down around the campfire and share some tales and stories from your friends and family. After your campfire it's back to the corral and ride off into the sunset with a smile on your face and memories never to be forgotten.
